Would a horse benefit from a sound bath? This question kept echoing through my mind as a sort of spirit-led quest for me to discover after my equine coaching session with Kate. Last December, a friend of mine and her husband had arranged for a group coaching session with therapy horses on a beautiful ranch. I brought my husband and our twenty-five-year-old son to join the group at the foothills of Northern Colorado. Kate is an equine-partnered life and business coach who works with horses and goats. She works on a fifteen-acre ranch in Longmont, Colorado with two very special mares named, Phoenix and Celita. They are therapy-coaching horses who communicate or rather “whisper” to Kate of their perceptions from what us humans are processing or what we may be needing to understand about ourselves on a deeper level of awareness. Kate’s mares are sentient beings full of grace and wisdom indeed. I was immediately struck by the energy of their extreme presence. They weren’t anxious being around all of us. Clearly, they were in deep observation of our tribe.
They stood almost motionless holding the frequency of stillness like Zen masters. I felt humbled to be in their sight when they slowly approached our circle. I am small standing at 5’3 in comparison to the mares, but my energy field is large. I noted their posture when standing still. It was a stance of great repose. They both had their back right hoofs gently bent forward and their heads down, nose to nose as if they were in a huddle whispering to each other. Quietly their huge brown eyes rolled over each one of us as we sat in our camping chairs in a circle. I felt deeper into their energies. The horses were as mountainous as the snow-capped peaks which hovered above their manes in the distance. At one point, I felt them reading into my energy field as I was reading into theirs. My heart remained open and curious. Kate began her coaching session.
